傑出企業傳承選舉 Outstanding Enterprise Heritage Selections

“Outstanding Enterprise Heritage Selections” is the flagship program hosted by JCI Tsuen Wan. The first election was held in 2014, and this year will be the tenth. The Outstanding Enterprise Selections aims to commend the inheritance enterprises with outstanding performance in Hong Kong, encourage enterprise innovation, and build a sustainable and long-term management environment.

In Hong Kong, many self-made entrepreneurs born in the 50s and 60s are gradually entering retirement age, and entrepreneurs familiar to Hong Kong people have also announced their retirement. Therefore, we have to pay attention to the issue of corporate inheritance. With the continuous progress and changes in today’s society, any enterprise needs a good inheritance plan in order to develop healthily and sustainably.

There is a saying that “wealth cannot last for three generations”, and it turns out that what is said is true, especially for Chinese family businesses. The research report “Future Development of Chinese Family Businesses” released by the University of Science and Technology earlier found that among the world’s more than 100-year-old family businesses, Japan topped the list with as many as 25,300, the United States and Germany with 11,700 and 7,632 respectively. Second, as for China and Hong Kong, there are only 204 and 89 century-old stores respectively, ranking 21st and 31st in the world. Among the top 100 oldest family businesses in the world, Chinese companies are not on the list, which makes people worry about the inheritance of old Chinese family businesses.

The “Outstanding Enterprise Heritage Selections” was formerly known as the “Outstanding Family Business Selections”. This year, the event entered its tenth year. Its purpose is to recognize Hong Kong enterprises with outstanding performance in inheritance, innovation and sustainable development. Past award-winning companies include: Topsoya, German Pool, Tai Hing, and Whiteflower Pak Fah Yeow, etc. The conference hopes to use the success stories of the award-winning companies to encourage and inspire more SMEs to plan their inheritance, innovation and sustainable development plans as soon as possible, so as to assist SMEs in their recovery. It is also hoped that Hong Kong’s economy and GDP can maintain growth.

This year’s theme is “Tracing the Origin and Learning the Past into the New”, which means drawing on old things to create a new generation of industries. The Preparatory Committee also wants to quantify the award-winning indicators and add ESG considerations on the basis of sustainable development SDGs, that is, to consider the contributions made by candidates to support and promote innovation and the environment, society and governance. This year coincides with the 10th Outstanding Enterprise Heritage Selections. We will strengthen the selected case writing program in cooperation with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Business School Jin Leqi Asian Family Business and Family Office Research Center.

There are two awards in this election, including the Outstanding Enterprise Inheritance Award and the Outstanding Enterprise Inheritance Spirit Award. Each award is the best affirmation of the outstanding performance of the enterprise. As an outstanding inheritance enterprise, we look forward to your participation and sharing to jointly promote the development and progress of the industry.

“Children’s Play Right” is a project dedicated to promoting the right to leisure and play for children. As stated in UNICEF article 31, children have the right to rest and leisure, engage in play and recreational activities that are appropriate to their age, and participate freely in cultural life and artistic activities. Our organization aims to support this right by holding various activities in our community.

In today’s society, many parents focus on ensuring that their children “win at the starting line.” However, they may not know where to begin. According to UNICEF, nutrition (EAT), play, and love are the three key elements critical for early childhood development (0-8 years old). If a child grows up in a safe, stimulating environment and is cared for and nurtured, it will have a significant impact on their future. Play is an essential component of childhood development. One hour of play a day inspires creativity and is an integral part of growth. Free play has no set learning goals and can inspire creativity, imagination, self-efficacy, and physical, social, cognitive, and emotional skills. From the survey conducted last year, we noticed that children were more anxious than in 2020 during the epidemic. The lack of outdoor activities and an increase in video games at home were cited as the main causes of this anxiety.

Therefore, in 2023, we plan to implement a project called “童造同樂” to encourage children’s autonomy. The project aims to involve children in co-creating a playground in their own decisions. By participating in this project, we hope to stimulate children’s creativity in designing and making their playground while also reducing the economic burden on children’s mental health. The “童造同樂” project is designed to encourage children to take the initiative in creating their own play environment. The project will involve children in a variety of stages, including brainstorming, designing, and constructing their playground. The project aims to promote creativity and imagination in children, as well as improve their social, emotional, and cognitive skills.

To implement this project, we will work with local schools and community organizations to identify eligible participants. We will provide children with the necessary materials and equipment for designing and building their playground, and we will organize workshops to teach them how to use the tools safely.

In addition to “童造同樂,” we have three events coming up this year. The first is a Lego SeriousPlay workshop, which will involve parents and children working together to build a playground according to their memories. This workshop aims to enhance the relationship between parents and children while also arousing children’s creativity in designing the playground.

The second event is a questionnaire we will cooperate with The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care. In this survey, we will focus on the mental health of children after the COVID-19 pandemic. This survey will help us understand the impact of the pandemic on children’s mental health and identify areas where we can provide support. We recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on children’s mental health and well-being. Many children have experienced increased anxiety and stress as a result of the pandemic, and they have had limited opportunities to engage in physical activity and socialize with their peers.

Finally, we will be holding a carnival event. The event will feature a variety of activities, such as show performances, workshops, and different kinds of game booths. As our name is “同樂,” which means “play together,” we hope to have families from different backgrounds come together and enjoy the carnival. The carnival event will be an opportunity for children to interact with others and engage in different types of play. Play is essential for children’s social and emotional development. Children who engage in play are more likely to develop positive relationships with others and have better social skills.

Moreover, children who engage in play are more likely to develop cognitive abilities such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Play also helps children develop their creativity and imagination. By providing children with opportunities to engage in different types of play, we hope to promote their overall development and well-being.In addition to the events mentioned earlier, “Children’s Play Right” plans to hold several other activities throughout the year. These activities are designed to promote the importance of play and provide children with opportunities to engage in different types of play.

Through these activities and events, we hope to promote the importance of play and provide children with opportunities to engage in different types of play. We believe that play is essential for children’s development and well-being, and it is our responsibility to provide them with a safe and stimulating environment to play and grow.

In conclusion, “Children’s Play Right” is committed to promoting the right to leisure and play for children. We believe that play is essential for children’s development and well-being and that it is our responsibility to provide them with a safe and stimulating environment to play and grow. Through our various activities and events, we hope to promote creativity, imagination, and autonomy in children while also reducing the economic burden on children’s mental health. We also recognize the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and are committed to providing children with additional support and resources to help them navigate these challenging times.
