“Together, we create a better future!” highlighting the core value of SDG Enterprise Awards 2025 (SDGEA), which have been organized by JCI Victoria since 2020, and co-organised by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The purpose of the awards is to further encourage more enterprises to commit to sustainability by recognising enterprise contribution to Sustainable Development Goals.
This year, our soft project launch, SDG Enterprise Awards Info Session: The Empowering Dialogue, empowered 80 participants, including over 50 enterprise representatives, with insights into sustainability in Small-to-Medium Enterprises (SMEs). SMEs, which make up 90% of enterprises in Hong Kong, play a pioneering role in technology and social innovation.
Ms. Ophelia Lin, Founding President of the Hong Kong Small-to-Medium Enterprises Sustainability Society and one of our judges, advised enterprises to focus on one or two impactful goals and encourage their colleagues to take action towards sustainability.
Ms. Serena Mak, Executive Director of Sustainable Finance at DBS Bank (Hong Kong) and also a judge, emphasized that every small step made by individuals and enterprises contributes to the sustainable development movement. She highlighted the support banks provide for sustainability, including green loans and sustainability-linked loans.
Four outstanding enterprises, awardees of SDGEA 2024, shared their experiences with SDG practices:
- Delicious Express Ltd: A social enterprise providing practical training and employment opportunities for individuals with special learning needs, enhancing their competitiveness and integration into the open job market. They also offer customized ESG projects for businesses, including volunteer visits and food assistance.
- E Plus Consulting Co., Ltd: A Hong Kong-based holistic wellness provider focused on equitable access to comprehensive healthcare, addressing both physical and mental well-being. They act as a connector within the healthcare ecosystem, streamlining services and offering tailored consulting solutions.
- Meat the Next Company Limited: A superfood technology company creating innovative, sustainable New Proteins products, including the world’s first Tiger Nut Oat Soy Milk, to combat climate change through diet change. Using patented technologies and unique raw materials, they deliver nutritionally balanced, dairy-free products with enhanced taste and texture.
- Novelte Robotics Ltd: Offering comprehensive robotic solutions, including smart delivery, disinfection, and robotic ambassador services, to support clients across industries like healthcare, education, hospitality, and retail in embracing cutting-edge automation.
In our sixth year, we are honored to invite Prof. Amos Tai, Associate Professor and Director of the Earth System Science Programme at CUHK, recipient of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Research Award for Young Scientists, Early Career Award, and Ten Outstanding Young Person Award 2024. Prof. Tai has made outstanding contributions in the academic field and continues to educate university students and the general public on sustainable development and environmental protection. He also stressed the importance and difficulty of changing customer behavior in the sustainable development movement.
“One to Infinity” is the slogan of JCI Victoria this year, highlighting how JCI Victoria harnesses the power of young active citizens to create enormous social impact over the past 75 years, and SDG Enterprise Awards continue this mission by bringing together SDG enterprises to create substantial social impact.
